Senior Technical Operations Engineer


Job Summary

The senior technical operations engineer is a motivated individual, with an aptitude in IT system function and technical writing. The role requires an individual who can manage and maintain many types of systems at once and communicate system language with the Gaine team. Technical writing is essential to the position, the right candidate must excel in their ability to understand technical information.


Essential Functions


  • Assist IT Ops Manager in monitoring, managing, and reporting on data center technical operations.
  • Update and maintain enterprise policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as needed.
  • Assist IT Ops manager in creating training materials for staff.
  • Assist IT Ops manager to document and develop/maintain policies, standards, guidelines and procedures for security and privacy.
  • Advise staff in workstation and server support.
  • Assist IT Ops manager in interfacing with clients about security, privacy.
  • Coordinate IT Ops projects – maintain, update, schedule.


Additional Skills (as needed)

  • Some weekend and “on-call” hours may be necessary to avoid client disruption.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides.
  • Advise staff in desktop support for Windows, MacOS, and linux platforms.
  • Advise staff in server support for all current generation of Windows Server; 2012, 2016, 2019
  • Advise staff in advanced network support and troubleshooting duties.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience



  • Familiarity with Windows domain functionality.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 deployment and management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure deployment and management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Hyper-V platform.
  • Familiarity with advanced wired & wireless networking concepts, protocols, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with design, deployment and configuration of server and storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with configuration of advanced networking components (firewalls, switches, wireless APs, Intrusion Prevention Systems, etc.).
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, written and oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent writing skills, both technically and grammatically.


Additional Helpful

  • Experience managing technical teams, projects, deadlines, and general company operations in a supervisory role.
  • PMP certification a plus
  • 5-7 years of experience maintaining Windows based technologies.
  • 1-2 years of experience maintaining Mac OS X based technologies.
  • Experience with Amazon AWS deployment and management.
  • Experience with Linux based systems.
  • Thorough understanding of Windows active directory functionality.
  • Familiarity VMWare virtualization platforms.
  • Basic understanding and troubleshooting of audio/visual equipment.
  • Basic familiarity with security, keyless entry, and camera systems.
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, health information management or a related healthcare field.
  • Knowledge and experience in state and federal information privacy laws, including but not limited to HIPAA
